From the Web Mistress
Spendthrift or Shopaholic
Chatting with a friend, I discovered that I’m prepared to spend much more on shoes that she ever would – I’m a sucker for luxury leather. But she tosses Taste the Difference and Finest foods into her trolley without a second thought to the cost; whereas I’ll eat anything so long as it’s not actually mouldy. We all have our blind spots – and our points of resistance.
How often have you bought someone some luxurious toiletries for a gift, knowing they’d appreciate the quality when they use the products every day? Yet would you buy yourself the same toiletries – or would you choose supermarket basics as good enough?
There’s a saying “rather live one day as a lion than a lifetime as a sheep”. So when it comes to fresh flowers - do you pounce on the first anemones of spring or peonies of summer like a thirsty man in the desert, longing to see that big blowsy bud open up, if only for a few days? Or do you stick to a good value bunch of spray carnations, longlasting and reliable, but unlikely to rock the world?
Are you a lion or a sheep?
