Asparagus falcatus
Name - Asparagus falcatus is commonly called sicklethorn and is one
of the asparagus ferns.
Description - It has delicate, soft needle
leaves on long thin stems with very fine thorns.
Origin -
South and west Africa, Sri Lanka, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean
Family - Liliaceae (Lily)
Varieties - There are
several varieties of asparagus ferns such as Asparagus setaceus (asparagus fern),
Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri' (emerald feather or sprengeri fern).
Care
Tips - It thrives best in a light or semi-shaded spot, likes regular watering
and its roots are strong enough to break through a container - so remember to
re-pot in good time!
