Adiantum
Name - Pronounced ADD-ee-an-toom and commonly called maidenhair fern.Description
- The most delicate of ferns, with dainty, fan-like, pale green triangular leaves
on black wiry stalks. Origin - Tropical and subtropical areas
of Australia, New Zealand and the Americas Family - PolypodiaceaeVarieties
- Most common ones available are raddianum, monocolor, fragrans, scuteum roseum.
Adiantum brilliantese (pictured here) has tiny leaves which start out gold, slowly
turning to pale green, but often retaining a golden edge.Care Tips
- Not difficult to grow but make sure it does not dry out. It needs a steady humid
atmosphere with no direct sunlight, and does well in bathrooms and the shaded
parts of a conservatory or greenhouse. Keep the roots moist, but not wet, and
spray often, daily if in a heated room. It prefers indirect light.
