A Bird of Paradise flower has an amazing structure: delicate, erect, orange bracts with two or three blue petals, emerge from a grey-green sheath like a proud cockscomb. The plant thrives indoors and can tolerate both sun and dappled shade. Water regularly in small quantities to ensure the plant does not get soggy roots. Strelitzia will thrive best if a little plant food is added to the water once a week, to keep it looking its very best.
